The Portuguese football team, eliminated this Friday in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 by France in a penalty shootout, returned to Portugal this Saturday without Cristiano Ronaldo and seven other people in their entourage.
The 26 players, under the supervision of coach Roberto Martinez, were free to travel with the delegation to Lisbon or continue on to their holiday destination.
Ronaldo, Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves, Vitinha, Diogo Dalot, Matheus Nunes, Bruno Fernandes and Joao Palinha have therefore decided not to travel to Portugal.
This Saturday, the Portuguese delegation left Marienfeld in Germany, which was the team’s “headquarters” during Euro 2024, and flew from Münster to Lisbon.
Portugal were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the 2024 European Football Championship after being defeated 5-3 on penalties by France after 120 goalless minutes in Hamburg, Germany.
