The 10-year-old son of American rapper Lil Durk allegedly shot and killed his stepfather to protect his mother during an argument last Monday, the Daily Mail reported.
CCTV footage captured the moment the child grabbed Joshua Pippens’ gun from his stepfather before shooting him.
The images show the pair arguing and getting physical on the sidewalk. In the midst of the chaos, the minor appears to point a gun at Pippens.
The disagreement continues: the couple is already in the middle of the road when the child fires a single shot at his stepfather, who falls to the ground. The wounded man was taken to hospital, has since recovered and has been very active on social media about the incident.
“As you can see, I was not the aggressor,” Pippens said. “And you can also see that I had the gun. He took my gun, following his mother’s instructions, tried to hit me, and he was successful,” he added.
The shooter’s stepfather says he had the gun to protect himself.
“I never in a million years thought the kid I bought the ATV for would be able to do this, but he only knows what his mother tells him. I still love him like he was mine,” he said.
Pippens, according to the English newspaper, suggests that the dispute could have arisen due to disagreements over custody of their common child.
Rapper Lil Durk, the father of five boys and five girls, has not commented on the situation.
