Spain and France play on Tuesday, starting at 8pm, in the first semi-final of the European Championship in Munich. On the table is a ticket for the final in Berlin, a game between the two main favourites to win the competition.
Didier Deschamps, the French coach, downplayed the low number of goals scored by the Gauls: “If France bothers you, change the channel and watch something else. The number of goals is less important than making the French happy,” he argued.
Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente speaks of La Roja’s ambitions: “We always want more. Our goal is to reach the final. To do that, we have to beat a great team and make history,” he said.
Fabian Ruiz denies there is a ‘plan against Mbappe’: ‘If we give him a bit of space, we know how dangerous he can be, but there is no plan to stop him,’ said the striker’s Paris Saint-Germain teammate.
The French have not conceded a single goal in the tournament so far, but on the other side is Spain, who have the better attack, with 11 goals in five games.
