Meta will lift restrictions placed on Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, citing the need for all candidates to have equal access to those networks during an election year in the United States.
Donald Trump, “as the Republican nominee, will not be subject to enhanced suspension sanctions,” Meta Platforms Inc said in an update to a post made on January 25, 2023, when the former US president’s Facebook and Instagram accounts were hit with a series of restrictions.
Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts were suspended for two years following the January 6, 2021, riots at the US Capitol and reopened in March 2023, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
