A 33-year-old man was arrested for attempting to steal a mobile phone and a gold thread from a plainclothes police officer during a police operation in the Santa Maria Maior parish of Lisbon last week.
During the investigation, the PSP agent felt that “his cell phone, worth 700 euros, was being taken from one of the back pockets of his trousers, so when he turned around, the suspect pushed him hard and then tried to suddenly remove the gold thread worth 800 euros that he was wearing around his neck.”
With the help of another colleague, the police officer managed to restrain the man and eventually arrest him.
The detainee was taken to the COMETLIS detention cell to appear before the court. The trial was postponed to a later date.
