Igor Patrick da Silva, a 37-year-old Brazilian, was arrested on Monday by an elite unit of the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) in the municipality of Loures. The man had an international arrest warrant from Interpol for five years in a prison in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, after he forced a minor to commit a robbery with a firearm in 2008.
After living in England, Igor lived in Portugal for two years, working as a cook in several restaurants. He was unemployed for about a month and a half and remained in the country illegally, hiding from an international warrant for his arrest issued by Interpol. He was arrested on Monday morning without putting up any resistance.
The SEF must now be present at the Lisbon Court of Appeal for subsequent extradition to the country of origin.
