Bologna offer complicates Ioannidis’ move to Sporting

The move of Greek Fotis Ioannidis (24) to Sporting is again complicated after Bologna raised their bid for the Panathinaikos player.

According to the newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian club received 22 million euros (plus three for goals) to convince the Greek club. This is already a sum very close to what Pana had expected, which set a minimum of 25 million to start negotiations.

Sporting will bet on patience. They know that the player wants to go to a club playing in the Champions League and that he prefers to go to Alvalade. However, Panathinaikos is adamant about the amount required. The Athenian team owns only 50% of the Greek’s passes, the rest belongs to Levadiakos (the striker’s previous club). Panathinaikos recently announced that the player is not for sale. In Greece, this decision was perceived as a warning to potential interested parties: the striker can only be sold for a sum very close to 30 million euros.

With Gyokeres the only striker in the squad, Sporting SAD want to secure an alternative to the Swedish striker for a long season, the main goal of which is to confirm the title of national champion and go as far as possible in the Champions League.

AND
LIONS COLLECT 9.1 MILLION EUROS
Sporting will earn €9.1 million from Fatawu’s sale to Leicester. The English club announced on Tuesday that they had activated their option to buy the Ghanaian for €17 million. Of that amount, the Lions must pay 50 percent of the surplus (€7.9 million) to Steadfast, the striker’s previous club.

Giokeres in the gym
Gioqueres returned to work in the gym on Tuesday and will not take part in this Wednesday’s preparation match (Algarve Stadium, 20:30) against Union Saint-Gilloise.
