Eight men aged between 23 and 45 were arrested by the Penafiel NR following an operation to combat drug trafficking. Of the group of detainees, two learned of the application of a preventive measure of detention after being presented to the criminal court. The remaining six defendants were subject to a coercive measure in the form of periodic appearance at a management post.
The arrests followed an investigation by the Penafiel GNR Criminal Investigation Department. During the investigation, the department seized approximately 200,000 euros, eight mid-range and luxury cars, and approximately four kilograms of drug pipelines. With this operation, the Penafiel GNR Criminal Investigation Center dealt a serious blow to the drug trafficking network operating in the Vale de Sousa area. All of the detainees are from the municipality of Paredes.
