The Directorate General of Consumer Affairs (DGC) and the European Consumer Centre (CEC) of Portugal launched this Thursday a campaign with recommendations for those planning to attend the Olympic Games in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11.
The campaign is specifically aimed at purchasing tickets to watch competitions, flights and car rentals.
In their statement, the organisations say that in the case of gaming tickets, “there are very specific rules for this purpose” and the recommendations are aimed at “preventing illegal sales”.
For example, anyone who has already purchased tickets for the competition cannot cancel them, and if they want to resell them, they can only do so on the official platform created for this purpose.
In addition, since the games coincide with the holiday season and heavy air traffic, rules regarding passenger rights in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay of flights are also brought to mind.
Advice is also given on how to arrange accommodation, car rental, and who to contact if in doubt or if you need to make a complaint.
