On Tuesday, February 14, Valentine’s Day, a new work by British artist Banksy appeared on a wall in Margate, Kent, England. Authentication of the mysterious artist made in his Instagram.
Titled “Valentine’s Day Mascara” (Valentine’s Day makeup in Portuguese), the new art shows a woman dressed in 1950s-style clothing and cleaning gloves, apparently pushing someone – presumably her husband – into the freezer. All you can see is his legs sticking out of the tip, according to BristolLive.
An enigmatic British artist’s work draws attention to violence against women on a day dedicated to love.
This is not the first time Banksy has celebrated Valentine’s Day – in 2020 he created a work of a girl with a balloon in Barton Hill, Bristol, England.
The artist’s work consists mainly of social and political criticism, always with a touch of irony.
