Around the world, several prisons house drug offenders, murderers and others serving life sentences. In many prisons, conditions are extremely harsh and human rights are at risk.
These are the 10 most dangerous prisons in the world, says Spanish program “four millennia”:
Black Dolphin Correctional Prison, Russia: Known as the “Prison of Death”, some of Russia’s most dangerous criminals – murderers, terrorists and cannibals – can be found here. Pressure and vigilance from the authorities extreme and no one managed to escape.
ADX Florence, USA: it’s called Like the Alcatraz of the Rockies, the presence of terrorists, gangsters and serial killers is huge. The prison features solitary confinement cells where inmates can spend years with minimal human contact.

Rikers Island Prison, USA: The prison’s enormous security is what makes it stand out from others. Hundreds of cases of abuse and violence against prisoners by prison authorities have been reported. The establishment will close in 2026.
