Ventura says it’s time for Biden to leave the stage

This Monday, President Chegi believed it was time for North American President and repeat candidate Joe Biden to leave the stage, but said he had “some doubts” that his opponent Donald Trump would win.

“I think Joe Biden was clearly on the verge of leaving the stage, especially because I think it would have been impossible for him, health-wise, to serve another four years as president,” Andre Ventura said.

The leader of Chega spoke to journalists during a visit to the League of Portuguese Firefighters in Lisbon.

“The departure of the current president of North America was more or less expected,” he said, adding that when it comes to “a human issue, not a political issue,” it is “a little awkward to see.”

Andre Ventura believed that everyone should “know how to leave the stage” and “not deceive people,” namely, run for a four-year term and then “leave after a year or a year and a half.”

“Now, is Donald Trump making life easier or not? I have some doubts, I think the vice president is obviously a more unknown candidate for people, but she also has her potential, and we know that the North American electorate is very divided and can be a more difficult opponent,” he noted.

President Chegi said the party “has participated in several forums attended by members of the Republican Party close to the Republican candidate” and that it has “all the guarantees that both in support of Ukraine and in relations with Europe, and that a possible victory by former President Donald Trump will maintain the same line of action regarding the excellent relations that exist between the United States and Europe.”

“In the case of Portugal, the question does not even arise, it is known that both Great Britain and the United States are among our greatest allies, even because of the Atlantic issue, and I think that whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris wins, we will have and maintain good relations with the United States, as it should be. If there are allies that Portugal cannot turn away from, these are its historical and natural allies from a diplomatic and economic point of view. In addition to Spain, which is our neighbor, the United States and Great Britain,” he said.

North American President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he was withdrawing from the presidential race, citing the interests of the Democratic Party and the country, and said he intended to complete his term.

The US leader said he had been given the “greatest honor” of his life in the job, which he held for nearly four years, but he succumbed to pressure from his party after a poor performance in the first televised debate last June in the race for the White House against former President (2017-2021) and Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Shortly after announcing his withdrawal, the US President declared his “full support” for his Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee in the November 5 election.

Kamala Harris said she intends to “earn and win” the Democratic Party’s nomination for president and defeat Republican Donald Trump.
