Democrat Kamala Harris leads the American vote in the November 5 presidential election with 44%, two points ahead of Donald Trump. That’s what the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted two days after Joe Biden dropped out of the White House race, shows. In the previous poll, conducted on July 15 and 16, Trump and Kamala were tied at 44%, while the former president led by one percentage point earlier in the month. A pollster for the Republican candidate’s campaign downplayed Kamala’s surge in support as temporary due to the extensive media coverage of her candidacy. While polls can provide important clues to North Americans’ support for candidates, the outcome is usually determined in so-called “swing states,” where neither of the two major parties typically has an outright majority in the popular vote. In 2020, when Biden won, there were five swing states: Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia.
Complaint to the Federal Election Commission
Donald Trump has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, alleging that money raised for President Joe Biden’s reelection cannot be transferred to Kamala Harris’ campaign. “Kamala Harris is attempting to commit a $91.5 million theft,” he charges. Kamala’s team says it is trying to sabotage her campaign.
