Benfica drew 1-1 against English side Brentford on Thursday in a warm-up match for the new football season, with Pavlidis scoring on the Reds’ return to the Estadio da Luz.
In the first game of the new season at their home stadium, Benfica saw the English league side take the lead after just eight minutes through Bryan Mbeumo, but Greek striker Pavlidis, who joined from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, restored the tie at the Benfica stadium on 24.
It was the fourth preparatory game for the team coached by Roger Schmidt in the 2024/25 season after triumphs over Farense (5-0) and Almeria (3-1) and a draw with Celta (2-2).
Benfica have two more friendly games scheduled: against Dutch side Feyenoord (19:30) on the 28th, also at the Benfica stadium, as part of the Eusébio Cup, and against English side Fulham (20:00) on August 2 at the Algarve stadium.
The Reds will make their debut in the First Football League on August 11, traveling to Famalicao for the first round of the tournament.
