Dutch driver Max Verstappen (Red Bull) has been penalised 10th on the grid for the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix, round 14 of the season, this Friday after changing the engine in his single-seater.
Red Bull have been forced to fit a fifth combustion engine to the Dutch driver’s car, meaning he moves back 10 places on the grid for Sunday’s race.
In other words, the best position Verstappen can aim for is 11th if he can be fastest in qualifying on Saturday.
Japan’s Yuki Tsunoda (RB) will leave last place after the team assembles a fifth power unit, electric motors, as well as a third battery and a third set of electronics.
In free practice this Friday, Max Verstappen was fastest with a time of 1:43.372 minutes, with Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren), winner of the previous round in Hungary, second with a result of 0.531 seconds, and Thai Alexander Albon (0.531 seconds Williams) in third place with a result of 0.727.
