They start this Friday, and the Olympics have already cost Zico thousands. According to Le Parisien, the former Brazilian national team player was the victim of a €500,000 robbery in Paris.
The newspaper reports that, upon leaving the hotel where he was staying in the French capital, the 71-year-old former player put a suitcase containing a Rolex watch, several diamonds and cash (2,000 euros and 2,000 dollars) in the trunk of a taxi, which he later boarded. One man approached the taxi driver to distract him, while another stole his suitcase, causing the former player huge financial losses. The case was referred to the special police (Brigade de Répression du Banditisme).
Zico is in Paris as part of Brazil’s delegation to the 2024 Games, which will see the opening ceremony this Friday at 6:30 p.m.
