Fado singer Misia dies

Susana Maria Alfonso de Aguiar, a Portuguese singer known by her stage name Misia, died this Saturday at the age of 69. The information was made public by a writer and friend of the singer. Richard Zimler on Facebook. The singer turned 69 last month.

“I am devastated because my old friend, the singer Misya, has just left us. She left peacefully, sweetly, without pain. I liked her so much. Here she is singing in a scarf that I sewed for her,” the writer wrote.

Winner of multiple awards, Misia Considered one of the best fado performers of recent times, she represented the third generation of artists in the family.

Born in Porto, Misia sang sporadically in fado houses as a teenager before family circumstances forced her to move to Barcelona and then Madrid. With an obvious artistic streak, she participated in several projects while living in Spain, butIt was when he returned to Portugal in 1981 that he really began to find his own path in music.

The singer became famous for creating a “new fado”, voicing the lyrics of important names of national culture, including The Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to José Saramago, Agustin Bessa-Luis and José Luis Peixoto.

The singer turned 69 last month.
