Porto’s first-leg defeat hurts

Eight pre-season games, eight wins. This Sunday, Porto beat Al Nasr 4-0, the Estádio do Dragao was almost ready and the reconciliation between the football team and the fans was evident. Vitor Bruno had already shown that his team was ready to fight for the first trophy of the season next Saturday, at 8:15 p.m., at the Estádio do Aveiro, against Sporting for the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira.

It soon became clear that Porto were going to visit Dragao in a presentation game for their members. And this was confirmed not only by the quality of the game that the white and blue team presented, but, on the contrary, by the complete lack of inspiration and poor quality of play revealed by the team led by Luis Castro (would it only be due to the absence of captain Cristiano Ronaldo?).

The dominance of Vitor Bruno’s team was overwhelming and resulted in four goals, all of them in the first half. Niko scored twice in the 18th and 31st minutes with his head. The first from a João Mário centre and the second after a childish “assistance” from Portuguese-Brazilian Otávio, a former Porto player now wearing the Al Nasr shirt.

Spaniard Ivan Jaime made it 2-0 after a good collective exchange of the ball with the first touch, in which Namaso made a superb backheel pass. The rout was increased in stoppage time thanks to a penalty against Ivan Jaime and converted by Gonçalo Borges.
In the second half, Porto slowed down the game and Vitor Bruno showed other players who were not in the starting lineup – Vasco Sousa hit the post against the Saudi goal (in the 83rd minute). Luis Castro tried to fix and set up a team that played at a level far below expectations.

BASIC MOMENTS

Niko – The Spanish midfielder is one of the great revelations of pre-season, playing on more advanced pitches. That’s why he’s already scored four goals.

Ivan Jaime – Another game with some great notes that ended with a much-desired goal yesterday. After a dismal season, there are good games ahead.

Namaso – The Dragons’ most advanced player stands out not only for his goals, but also for his moves: he helps Jaime with his heel…
