Portuguese athlete Isaac Nader qualified for the 1500m semi-finals of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Friday, finishing sixth in the second series of the first qualifying round.
Nader, who finished second in three series in this first round, was sixth with a time of 3:35.44 minutes in a series won by Ethiopian Ermias Girma with a time of 3:35.21.
The 24-year-old from Faro, who qualified with a qualifying time of 3:31:49 minutes, will advance directly to the semi-finals on Sunday at 21:10 local time (20:10 Lisbon), having avoided competing in the repechage competition on Saturday.
If he reaches the final, the Benfica athlete, an Olympic debutant and fourth at this year’s World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, will take part in the decisive race at 20:50 local time (19:50 Lisbon) on Tuesday fair.
