This Sunday, Portuguese sailor Eduardo Marques left the entry point for the ILCA 7 medal race at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, dropping to 11th place with two races remaining in Marseille.
Eduardo Marquez, who finished ninth in his class on the fourth day of competition, was disqualified in the first race for violating the black flag rule at the start, which stipulates that no part of the boat’s hull may be in the triangle formed at the ends of the starting line and the first course mark one minute before the start.
After scoring 44 points in that first regatta, Eduardo Marquez had a strong second race to finish third and then scored 101 points, just one behind Ireland’s 10th-placed Finn Lynch, the last person eligible for a medal in the race.
Monday will see the last two regattas before the “race for the medals” the following day, with the first scheduled to start at 14:40 local time (13:40 in Lisbon).
