Palmeiras, coached by Portuguese Abel Ferreira, drew 1-1 at home this Sunday in the 21st round of the Brazilian Football Championship, recording their fourth game without a win, three of which were defeats.
The team from Rio Grande do Sul scored in the 31st minute thanks to midfielder Bruno Henrique, with an assist from Argentine right-back Fabricio Bristos.
The story of the game would have been different if Palmeiras striker Lazaro’s goal had been confirmed just eight minutes later and disallowed for being offside.
Palmeiras, two-time champions suffering a crisis of results, managed to draw only in the 89th minute thanks to striker Roni, launched by Abel Ferreira in the 75th minute, beating the central Murilo, avoiding a fourth defeat in a row, now facing an invincible opponent with 11 games in a row (six draws and five defeats), two of which are seven for the “Brasileirão” (four draws and three defeats).
Botafogo, coached by Portuguese Artur Jorge, leads the championship with 43 points (21 games), followed by Flamengo, who lost this Sunday in Morumbi to Sao Paulo 1-0 with 40 (20) and Palmeiras, with 37 (21).
