Renato Sanches was very happy and said he was experiencing an “exciting” stage of returning to Benfica. “It’s a very nice moment. After eight or nine years, it’s a bit emotional to talk about it because it’s a home that I’ve always liked. I’ve always thought about coming back one day,” the BTV midfielder said.
Despite representing clubs such as PSG and Bayern, the 26-year-old Portugal international has never seen a club as big as Benfica. “It has always been my favourite club. It is always hard not to think about going back because it is a place where you feel good. Compared to the clubs I have been to, in terms of greatness, Benfica was bigger than all the others,” he stressed.
So the new Reds’ number 85 believes he will find the “normal” Benfica, the same one he saw 8 years ago when he headed to Munich.
Believes he can perform with Schmidt
When asked about Roger Schmidt’s system, Renato Sanchez believes he is capable of success. “I don’t see any difficulties because it is a completely normal system and I have played with this system in previous teams. For me, it will not be an obstacle,” he analyzed with the desire to strengthen the team. “We all already know what I can add to the team. I am here to help, to do everything possible to make the team stronger and win what we have to win this year.”
