Teresa Portugal misses out on direct 500m K1 semi-final qualification by tenth of a second

This Wednesday, Portuguese canoeist Teresa Portela failed to qualify directly for the semi-finals of the 500m K1 at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, finishing third in the sixth qualifying round and going to the quarter-finals.

In her debut at her fifth Games, after a seventh place at Tokyo 2020, Tereza Portela finished the race in 1:51:03, losing to Hungary’s Tamara Csipes (1:50:21) and Denmark’s Emma Jorgensen (1:50:93) in the qualifying competition, with the first two advancing to the semi-finals and the rest to the quarter-finals.

The K1 500m quarter-finals will be held this Wednesday at 1:30pm local time (12:30pm Lisbon). The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday at 10:30am local time (09:30am Lisbon), with the main final scheduled for 1:00pm (12:00pm).
