Two Suspects in Planned Attacks on Three Taylor Swift Concerts Arrested

Chemicals and technical devices have been found in the home of a 19-year-old Austrian man arrested on suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack and planning attacks on three Taylor Swift concerts scheduled for this week in Vienna.

A few weeks ago, a young man of North Macedonian origin swore allegiance to the current leader of Daesh via the Internet. The authorities are investigating the seized materials.

Second suspect with Islamic radical materials

The second suspect was detained on the streets of the Austrian capital. Local media reported that another person involved in the case was being sought, but the police have already denied this information.

On Thursday, authorities reported that they had found ISIS and Al-Qaeda materials in the home of the second suspect detained. He is a young man, also Austrian, 17 years old, with Croatian and Turkish roots.

The young people were to be killed with knives and explosives

According to local authorities, the young men intended to kill many people near the stadium where Taylor Swift’s concert was to take place. To do this, the detainees used knives and homemade explosives.

The 19-year-old has already confessed to his plans to carry out the attack. Police say he is “an obvious ISIS radical who believes in killing infidels.”

Austria ‘avoided tragedy’

Austria’s foreign minister said the country had “avoided tragedy” by arresting two suspected terrorists who were planning attacks on three Taylor Swift concerts scheduled for this week in Vienna.

Karl Nehammer said on Wednesday that “intensive cooperation” between the police and the State Office of Information and Security, which is part of the Interior Ministry, had made it possible to “detect” and combat the threat in a timely manner.

“The situation surrounding the terrorist attack, apparently planned in Vienna, was very serious,” the diplomat stressed in a statement published on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
