V. Guimaraes beat Zurich (0-3) at the Swiss team’s stadium in the first match of the 3rd qualifying round of the Conference League and is in a good position to advance in the competition.
After beating Maltese Floriana in the previous round, Guimaraes travelled to the Swiss side’s ground and scored through Ricardo Mangas in the 54th minute and Nelson Oliveira in the 90’+3, also taking advantage of an own goal from Mariano in the 87′.
The return match is scheduled for August 15 in Guimaraes, where the winner of the round will advance to the playoffs to face the team that won the match between Bulgarians Botev Plovdiv and Bosnians Zrinjski Mostar, fighting for a place in the group stage of the Conference League.
