The Paris Olympics, where Portugal achieved its best ever result, “were the most watched since 2016,” according to an analysis by Universal McCann (UM), a media agency part of the IPG Mediabrands group.
“The gold medal of Rui Oliveira and Yuri Leitan in track cycling at the Madison competition, the silver medals of Pedro Pichardo in the triple jump and Yuri Leitan in the omnium, and the bronze medal of Patricia Sampaio in judo allowed Portugal to show its best results ever in terms of quality,” says UM , which analyzed the audience.
“During the Olympic Games period (July 26 to August 11), RTP2, which broadcast most of the events, achieved a ‘share’ of 4.8%,” and “this result was higher than during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 (4.4%) and Tokyo (2.1%),” reports Universal McCann, recalling that Patricia Sampaio’s bronze medal was the first won by Portugal at these Olympic Games.
