An 11-year-old girl was stabbed eight times in Leicester Square in central London, UK, while walking with her mother on Monday when a man approached the girl, grabbed her by the head and then stabbed her. Sky News.
The girl, who suffered injuries to her face, shoulders, wrists and neck, is in hospital and will require plastic surgery, according to authorities.
According to the same source, the attack was stopped by a store security guard who “heard a scream” and “pounced” on the man who attacked the child. He then grabbed him and took the knife away from him.
Police arrived at the scene four minutes later.
Ioan Pintar, 32, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a sharp object.
Pintaru was placed in pre-trial detention and will be heard in court. Central Criminal Court from London on September 10th.
