The 2024/25 Champions League draw will be conducted largely with the help of software that will help reduce the gap between competing teams, UEFA announced at a press conference on Wednesday.
The new draw method, which also applies to the Europa League and Conference League, is the result of a change to the Champions competition model, which will now see the 36 participating teams play eight games, four at home and four away, against different opponents.
In the draw on August 29 in Monaco, UEFA will maintain the criterion for forming the pots into which the participating clubs (which will include Sporting and Benfica) will be distributed, which will be based on the coefficient in the organization’s ranking, with the exception of the champion, who will be placed in Pot 1, regardless of their position in the hierarchy.
