Sporting Braga’s Joao Moutinho will be sidelined for around four weeks with a right calf muscle injury sustained against Servette, the club said on Friday.
The experienced midfielder was replaced by Roger in the 17th minute of the second leg of the Europa League third qualifying round, a 2-1 win in Switzerland that saw Mignon’s side secure a place in the knockout stages.
The club announced on Friday that the Portugal international had suffered an injury to his inner right calf, which will require a break of “at least four weeks”.
João Moutinho will return to the pitch only when he turns 38 (September 8), missing the next rounds of the championship, as well as the Europa League playoffs, which will take place on August 22 and 29, against Austrian Rapid Vienna.
