The sale of Mateus Fernandes to Southampton will bring Sporting revenues of 15 million euros, a figure that could reach 20 million if the targets are met. This puts the 20-year-old midfielder among the most profitable businesses of the Alvalade emblem, given the time he has spent in the first team and the cash flow it provides.
It’s easy to count: Mateus Fernandes played 10 games for Sporting’s first team (two in the starting lineup), which equates to 311 minutes of playing time.
Sold for 15 million euros, it brings in 48,231 euros for every sixty seconds of use. If the goals set out in the agreement are achieved (which, as CMeasy to implement), the cost per minute can reach even 64,308 euros.
The deal also sees Sporting retaining ten per cent of the value of any potential future sale to Southampton.
Given the limited space in Sporting’s squad, as he will be a rotation player who will play the final part of some games, Mateus Fernandes thus has the opportunity to progress in his career and then in one of the strongest football leagues in the world, the English one.
On the other hand, the sale would also allow Sporting to gain capital to finance new acquisitions without sacrificing top-level players.
Yota indicated without reason
Jota, the 25-year-old Portuguese striker, has been assigned to Sporting. The information comes from the French portal, which also adds that Wolverhampton (sponsored by agent Jorge Mendes) are monitoring the player, who is training at Benfica.
However, according to the same source, Jota has been ruled out of Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia)’s options for this season.
According to CMSporting are not interested in the Portugal U21 striker.
Gioker is being talked about again
English clubs continue to closely monitor the “movements” of Victor Giokeres. According to the English press, the two goals (and there is even talk of a shot that hit the post) of the Swede in Madeira against Nacional are a reminder for Arsenal, who continue to be active in the market for a striker.
On the other hand, Sporting and Toluca are finalising the details of the transfer of striker Maxi Araujo, who is expected to arrive in Lisbon in the coming days.
