The world’s oldest man has died. He was 117 years old.

He died Maria Branyas Morera, the oldest man in the world, 117 years old.

It was on social network X that the family announced the death. Maria Branyas “She has left us,” they began their letter. “She died as she wanted: in her sleep, peacefully and without pain,” it reads. “We will always remember her for her advice and kindness.”

Branyas For the last two decades he lived in the Santa Maria nursing home del Tura, in the city Olotin the north-east of Spain.

Guinness World Records officially recognized Branyas’ status as the world’s oldest person in January 2023, following the death of French nun Lucille Randon at age 118.

Now, with Branyas’ death, the oldest person in the world is Japanese Tomiko Itooka, who was born on May 23, 1908 and is 116 years old, according to the U.S. Gerontology Research Group.
