Israel Claims Attack Kills Fatah Military Wing Leader

The Israeli army confirmed it carried out an “air strike” in southern Lebanon that killed the leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah, the party of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, on Wednesday.

The Israeli army accuses Khalil Makda, the leader killed in the attack, and his brother Munir Makda, the leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, of “acting on behalf of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards,” the ideological army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and of “participating in organizing terrorist attacks” and “selling weapons” to the occupied West Bank.

For the first time since the start of gunfire between Israeli forces and the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah just over ten months ago, the death of an element linked to Abbas’s party has been confirmed.
