The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, announced on Monday a government diploma to facilitate the recruitment of teachers.
We are talking about “exceptional and temporary measures in the field of education in order to provide state pre-school institutions, as well as institutions of basic and secondary education under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, with teaching staff and specialized technical specialists necessary to ensure the right of students to education.”
Let us recall that the government announced new measures at the last meeting of the Council of Ministers.
In the education sector, a new extraordinary competition for the recruitment of teachers has been announced for schools with a major teacher shortage after the government identified shortcomings in the competition announced by the previous leader. In addition, the government will create support for laid-off teachers of up to 300 euros.
To prevent students from being out of school for a very long period of time, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) has launched the “+ Classes + Success” plan, consisting of 15 emergency measures aimed in particular at schools where more students have been affected, that is, in the Lisbon metropolitan area, the Alentejo and the Algarve.
