Films co-produced by Portugal and Spain are included in the program of the Valladolid Festival in Spain.

Three feature films co-produced by Portugal and Spain are part of the program of the International Film Week of Valladolid, the 69th edition of which will be held in October in Spain, the organization said.

“New Friends” by Adrián Orr Serrano, “Caja de Resistance” by Alejandro Alvarado, Concha Barquero, Alejandro Alvarado Jodar and Concha Barquero Artes, and “My Germano Ali” by Paula Palacios are among the films already released for the 69th Seminci, which will take place from October 18 to 26.

According to information available on the festival’s official website, “A nuestros amigos” is a joint project between the Spanish studios New Folder Studio and El Viaje Filmes and the Portuguese production company Karõ Filmes, founded in 2014 by directors João Salavisa and René Nader Messora.

The feature film had its world premiere at this year’s Visions du Réel festival, which took place in Paris in April.

“Caja de Resistance” (Resistance Box, Portuguese title) is a co-production between the Spanish companies Azhar Films and Alvaquero and the Portuguese company Blablabla Media.

The film gives “continuity to the films that were dreamed of [realizador espanhol] Fernando Ruiz Vergara, who after a long exile in Portugal, “left behind dozens of sketches for films he never made.”

“Rocio”, a work cursed by judicial censorship under Spanish democracy, was the only work that the Andalusian director [que morreu em 2011] “I was able to sign,” the Portuguese producer recalls.

“Mi Hermano Ali” (“My Brother Ali”, title in Portuguese), a co-production between Morada Films and Serena Productions, with RTVE and the Aljazeera Documentary Channel involved, is a documentary focusing on Ali, a young Somali man who fled the country at the age of 14 to escape war.
