Cristiano Ronaldo will be honoured during the Champions League draw on Thursday with a special prize for being the competition’s all-time leading goalscorer.
“Ronaldo’s achievements in Europe’s premier club competition, spanning more than 18 years, will be celebrated at the opening ceremony of the 36-team 2024/25 UEFA Champions League draw, which will take place on Thursday, 29 August, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco,” UEFA said in a statement on Tuesday.
In 183 games played in the Champions League, CR7 scored 140 goals and was the top scorer in seven different editions. Not only that, he won the tournament five times and scored 17 goals in the 2013/14 season, a record that remains the record for goals in a single season to this day.
