Portuguese international goalkeeper Rui Patricio, 36, was officially named as Atalanta’s new signing today on a one-year deal, the Italian Football League club announced.
“BC Atalanta is pleased to announce that goalkeeper Rui Pedro dos Santos Patricio, better known as Rui Patricio, will wear the black and blue jersey for the 2024/25 season on a one-year contract,” reads the Bergamo emblem.
Rui Patricio arrives at Atalanta on the same day that the Italians loaned Argentine goalkeeper Juan Musso to Atletico de Madrid until the end of the season, with the Colchoneros obliged to buy.
At Atalanta, Rui Patricio, who was a free agent after three seasons in the Italian capital, will compete for the Nerazzurra goal with Marco Carnesecchi, a regular starter.
The Bergamo team will be only the fourth club in the professional career of the Portuguese, the 2016 European champion and the goalkeeper who has played the most matches for the national team – 108.
Patricio graduated from Sporting and represented the Leonin senior team in 467 official matches before moving to English club Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018 following the attack on the Alcochete academy.
