Search work on the Douro River to find two important objects in the investigation into the cause of Friday’s helicopter crash in Samodain resumed this Sunday and will continue until they are found, the commander of the Northern Marine Police said.
Rui Silva Lampreia explained that the operation, which began at 08:00 and was carried out by seven members of the Marine Police Forensic Diving Team, is part of an ongoing investigation by the General Aviation Accident Prevention and Investigation Authority and the Railway Accidents Authority (GPIAAF).
Investigators are searching for the “computer and tail rotor” of a forest fire helicopter that crashed into the Douro River on Friday, killing five soldiers from the Emergency Protection and Assistance Unit (UEPC) who were returning from a fire in the municipality of Baiao.
