The Spanish cyclist of the team Kern Pharma Pablo Castrillo has won the fifteenth stage of the 2024 Vuelta a España This Sunday, contested between Infiesto and Valgrande-Pajares Cuitu Negru (143km), on a day marked by intense fog. Thus, The Navarrese team has achieved its second victory in the Vuelta. In parallel, the Australian Decathlon AG2R runner Ben O’Connor remains the leader of the general classification.
Castrillo, stage winner in Cabeza de Manzanedawon in Cuitu Negru with a time of 3:45:51, followed by the Russian Vlasov 13 seconds behind and the Frenchman Sivakov 33 seconds behind.
In the fight for the general classification, the Spaniard Enrique Mas (Movistar Team) was the best of the favourites, entering alongside the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Red Bull-BORA Hansgrohe), 38 seconds ahead of leader O’Connor, who managed to save his first place, only to suffer in the final kilometres.
The Spanish round will face its second and last on Monday rest daybefore resuming next Tuesday with another decisive stage, the climb to the Lakes of Covadonga, another special category port of 12.2 kilometers with an average gradient of 7%.
