The reports of corruption in sports and other sectors were posted on the “Corruption: Report Here” portal, run by DCIAP. The document does not indicate whether the complaints have led to new investigations.
In recent years, the DCIAP has launched several investigations into suspected corruption in football. The most popular are Operation Red Card, which involves Benfica and Luis Filipe Vieira, Operation Extra Time, which targets FC Porto and Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, and Operation Fora de Jogo, which involves several clubs.
The DCIAP is conducting six investigations into companies linked to Benfica, Porto and Sporting, two each. The investigations involve 120 defendants and the global value of the companies under investigation exceeds €228 million. The cases include suspicious player and coach transfers, image rights contracts and false invoicing schemes to avoid paying taxes.
