In just two days, a prison guard at Linho Prison in the municipality of Sintra seized more than a kilogram of drugs from the prison. At the same prison, on Sunday afternoon, a decompensated prisoner punched a guard who needed medical attention.
The information was passed on to CM National Union of Prison Guards (SNGP). After Saturday morning, as CM first-hand reports that a kitchen worker was detained and handed over to the PNR with about 200 grams of hashish, which she had hidden in her suitcase. An anonymous tip prompted guards at the Linho prison to confiscate another 850 grams of the same drug yesterday. It was hidden in a chair in the prison workshop and was handed over to the prosecutor’s office for investigation.
Just yesterday afternoon, an uncompensated prisoner who had been taken to the prison infirmary because he had been violent towards guards and insulting several of them, attacked one of these specialists, striking him several times in the face. Force had to be used to restrain him and handcuff him. He will now be subject to the usual disciplinary process.
Frederico Morais, president of the SNGP, believes that CM that “the seizure of more than 800 grams of drugs is another excellent job by prison guards in combating drug trafficking.” On the other hand, he added, “this aggression is another example of indiscipline and lack of security in prisons.”
