US President Joe Biden arrived Monday morning in Kyiv on an unannounced visit, the first since the start of the Russian invasion, which turns one year on Friday, according to the Ukrainian press.
Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv after they first met on Dec. 21.
During the visit, the US president announced that Washington would provide the Ukrainian capital with a new $500 million military aid package. More details on the aid will be revealed on Tuesday.
The historic visit of the head of the Ukrainian state to Washington was his first foreign trip since the outbreak of war in the country in February last year.
