LIV Golf 2023 Schedule: Detailed Tour Dates, UK Format Explained and Ticketing for the London Event
After testing the situation and ultimately causing the storm that swept the sport last year, LIV Golf is back for its first official season in 2023.
Instead of eight “beta events” in 2022, you can prepare for 14 this year in seven countries, and yes, team names like 4 Aces, Majesticks and Hy Flyers will remain – with the addition of new teams like RangeGoats and Ripper .
Open champion Cameron Smith and six-time Grand Winner Phil Mickelson are among the captains taking part in the controversial series.
Mickelson reportedly received $200m (£166m) to take part in the Saudi-backed series last year and insisted that LIV Golf “will also bring a lot of value to the game” as he joined rights infringement person in Saudi Arabia.
Smith, meanwhile, was world No. 2 when he signed in August, and the Aussie admits he’s “pleased” to know the LIV Golf has no points for the ranking system – one of the many controversies surrounding the series.
“I feel like I was very close to being number 1 and that was definitely something I wanted to celebrate,” Smith said.
“I think if you’re playing in a tournament you know who to beat, whether he’s in the world rankings or not. Typically, there are seven to eight people in this area who you know are going to put up a pretty good fight.
“But the longer this goes on, the more outdated these ratings become, I think. do we need them? It would be nice, but you know who to beat when you hit the golf course.”
Smith and Mickelson are among the main players this year, along with former world No. 1 Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau.
Most if not all golf fans are aware of the gap between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. Rory McIlroy openly opposed the escape sequence and was particularly involved in an argument with Patrick Reid after the American’s attorney served him a summons on Christmas Eve.

Even before LIV Golf entered traditional tourist territory, the world’s No. 1 McIlroy was picked as a good guy just as easily as Reed was picked as a bad guy. That they are on opposite sides of the Persian Gulf infighting, that McIlroy is encamped with traditional forces, that Reed has spearheaded the takeover of Saudi Arabia, is manna to anyone whose company sells Drama.

Reed, a golfer who made his career by alienating his peers, has a solid grasp of the basics of a crappy economy, which was well demonstrated during the celebration when his legal representatives served McIlroy with a subpoena allegedly related to the LIV Golf antitrust case. claims the PGA Tour is trying to destroy it. This case, in which McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Davis Love III are alleged accomplices, will begin in January 2024.
Even an attempt at a friendly conversation about the series in Dubai before the tournament was a success at best and ended in the already legendary “storm in a teacup”. McIlroy joked that if he had thrown the T-shirt in Reed’s direction, he would have faced a lawsuit. Asked by a reporter if there could be a bridge to a better relationship between them, McIlroy’s face contorts in painful disbelief.
At the helm of the LIV Series is CEO and Commissioner Greg Norman, a two-time Open champion who has been unafraid since launch.
“During our year of beta testing, we received great feedback from fans around one common theme: LIV Golf’s team format, innovation, and festival-style events create a unique golf experience,” Norman said ahead of the start of the 2023 series.
“Last year, the foundation was laid for the future of golf on exceptional golf courses hosting some of the world’s best tournaments. The LIV Golf schedule includes fantastic venues and championship venues for our official launch of a competition that will usher in a new era for the sport.”

Liv Golf 2023 Format Explained
This year LIV Golf will consist of 48 players in 12 teams. The four players on each team compete individually, with the lowest score on 54 holes – 18 holes a day for three days – winning the tournament.
There will be 14 competitions in total, and the team with the fewest points will also be the winner of each event. There is also a “shotgun blast” where all players start the game at the same time, and there is also no reduction, which means all 48 players are present each day.
Last year, the series ended with a tag team championship that included match play, with only four teams competing on the final day.
The total prize pool for the 2023 season is $405 million (£337 million).
