In the balance sheet of Operation Safe Carnival 2023, which ran from Friday to Tuesday, the Public Security Police said 584 people were arrested, 214 for drunk driving and 121 for not having a driver’s license. , 73 for drug trafficking and 49 arrest warrants.
During the five days of the Carnival, the PSP accompanied 294 corso and carnival processions and carried out 732 inspection operations, 495 in the field of road safety and 119 as part of the inspection of institutions and spectacles and private security.
In terms of road safety, PSP monitored 14,762 drivers and recorded 1,620 violations, the majority (726) for speeding, in addition to 261 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 215 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 68 for lack of mandatory insurance , 51 for not wearing a seat belt and 57 for using a cell phone while driving.
The same police indicate that in their area of responsibility, urban centers, there were 614 traffic accidents, as a result of which two were killed, nine were seriously injured and 190 received minor injuries.
