Thousands of teachers are expected in Lisbon this Saturday. in a march organized by the Union of All Education Workers (Stop) in defense of public schools and for better working conditions and wages.
This is the fourth demonstration promoted by Stop since December, when it also launched an indefinite strike that continues to this day, demanding better conditions for all school workers, such as a €120 increase in wages.
Since December 9, teachers have been fighting for their rights and for the rights of teaching. The grievances are mainly related to promotions, career restoration, hiring and placement of teachers, and reduced working hours.
Teachers are also being asked to review the recruitment and placement model for teachers, as well as reduce working hours and assign tasks consistent with 35 hours per week.
