According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), seventeen of the 18 areas in mainland Portugal are under a yellow warning from this Tuesday until Thursday due to a cold weather forecast.
The districts of Bragança, Viseu, Evora, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Setubal, Santarem, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra, Portalegre and Braga will be under scrutiny until 10: 00. Thursday is a fair day due to low minimum temperatures.
IPMA also issued a yellow warning for the areas of Porto, Faro, Setubal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga from 12:00 to 21:00 on Tuesday due to rough seas. northwest waves from 4 to 4.5 meters.
The north coast of Madeira and the island of Porto Santo will also be under a yellow warning until 12:00 this Tuesday due to rough seas, with a northwesterly wave of 4 to 4.5 meters expected.
A yellow warning, the least severe, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain weather-dependent activities.
IPMA predicts cold weather on the continent this Tuesday with some cloud cover or clear skies and light to moderate winds from the east quadrant, changing to the north quadrant in the afternoon and sometimes strong in the highlands.
The forecast also indicates the formation of frosts, especially in the interior of the North and Center, a sharp nighttime cooling and a slight decrease in temperature, more significant than the minimum.
Minimum temperatures will range from -3 degrees Celsius (in Bragança) to 11 (in Faro), while maximum temperatures will range from 10 degrees (in Guarda) to 20 (in Faro).
For the Madeira archipelago, periods of very cloudy skies, temporarily reduced cloudiness in the morning, generally light rain, more likely on the northern slopes and highlands until early morning, light to moderate wind and a slight drop in temperature are forecast.
In Funchal, temperatures will range from 13 to 20 degrees, and in Porto Santo from 13 to 18 degrees.
IPMA also placed the islands of Corvo and Flores under orange alert due to rough seas and winds, and San Miguel and Santa Maria due to rainfall caused by the Camiel Trench.
