Civil Protection registers 13 incidents in San Miguel due to bad weather

Bad weather reported in the eastern group of the Azores caused 13 incidents on the island of Sao Miguel during the day and night on Friday, mostly flooding roads and houses, but no personal injury.

According to a statement from the Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service of the Azores (SRPCBA), during the afternoon and evening of Friday, “a total of 13 incidents were recorded, all on the island of São Miguel (eight in the municipality of Ponta Delgada and five in Ribeira- Grandi)”.

The situations involve “flooding of roads, houses and a landslide that blocked part of the road,” the Azores Civil Protection continues to report, indicating that there were no reports of injuries.

Bad weather recorded on the Eastern Group islands (San Miguel and Santa Maria) was associated with the passage of a cold frontal surface with bumps.
