Authorities are conducting searches on Tuesday in the Ponte de Sor area of Portalegre to try to find a 36-year-old man who allegedly disappeared in the Lisbon area on Saturday, civil protection and GNR said.
The disappearance alert was given to the authorities by family members on Saturday in the Lisbon area and handed over to the guards in the Ponte de Sor area around 00:00 on Tuesday, a source from GNR’s Portalegre Territorial Command told Lusa.
The same source indicated that the search was concentrated in the area of Rosmaninhal, in the parish of Longomel, in the municipality of Ponte de Sor (Portalegre).
This was the man’s “last known whereabouts” recorded by his smart watch (“smart watch”), according to information provided by the GNR family, security forces sources told Lusa.
“There is information from family members who say that the smart watch provided location information near the well,” but searches have already covered the place, “and neither the person nor the watch was found,” one of the GNR sources said.
Lusa was also contacted by a source from the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, who said the searches began at 8:00 a.m. but were completed by 11:00 a.m. firefighters.
The GNR continues to search the ground, a source in the Territorial Command of Portalegre da Guarda told Lusa.
“To eliminate any doubts, we went to two more wells, a little further away, and expanded the search perimeter,” he said.
According to the sub-regional command, while firefighters, together with the GNR, were involved in the search operation, eight operators were mobilized on land and in water, assisted by four vehicles.
