The PSV Eindhoven fan who attacked Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic during a game between the two clubs on February 23 in the Europa League was sentenced this Wednesday to three months in prison.
The second leg of the round of 16 of the Europa League was won by PSV 2-0 and marked by the aggression of Dilano K., 20, who entered the field to attack the Spanish goalkeeper.
Dilano K. will immediately have to serve two months in prison with a third month’s reprieve. After that, he will remain on parole for two years, during which he will not be able to approach the PSV stadium, Dutch public television NOS reported on the verdict.
During the incident, Marko Dmitrovic resisted aggression until security agents entered the field to apprehend Dilano K.
The aggressor, who in the meantime lost his job and was expelled from the sports team he was on, had a blood alcohol level of 1.6 g/l and had previously been banned from the PSV stadium twice, so he even had to watch the match with the Spaniards live.
According to the newspaper De Telegraaf, the fan entered with someone else’s pass.
In a statement, PSV distanced itself from the fan’s position and condemned the attack on Dmitrović, promising to find better ways to enforce the stadium bans.
