According to information released by the carrier, the strike of CP train drivers, which lasts 24 hours this Friday, resulted in the suppression of 695 trains from 989 planned from 00:00 to 18:00.
During this period, 294 trains were manufactured, including 293 with minimal maintenance. The level of suppression was 70.3%.
On the long-distance route, 41 trains out of about 59 were canceled, and on the regional route, out of 237 scheduled trains, 166 did not take place.
In Lisbon city trains, 328 out of 468 planned trains were canceled and 141 trains out of about 198 were canceled in Porto. In Coimbra city trains, 19 out of 27 planned trains were canceled during this period.
CP drivers have launched a new 24-hour strike starting at midnight, with the introduction of minimum services, announced by the National Union of Portuguese Railway Drivers (SMAQ) in defiance of the latest offer of a €51 wage increase.
The company predicts a “high impact” on traffic today and minor disruptions in the remaining days until the 18th, when train drivers will not perform services for more than seven and a half hours.
The arbitral tribunal ruled that the minimum services at the national level are about 30%, as well as services necessary for the safety and maintenance of equipment and installations, as well as emergency services and rescue trains.
The strike was called in protest against the company’s latest offer of a €51 wage increase, representing an average career advancement of 3.89% and which the trade union structure considers “clearly unacceptable”.
Thus, from 00:00 to 23:59 this Friday, the workers declare “a strike for the provision of any and all work by workers in the categories represented by the SMAQ (effective from the last hours of Thursday and the first hours of Saturday)”.
In February, strikes organized by several Communist Party unions led to the suppression of hundreds of convoys a day.
