Operation Lex, whose defendants are former judges Vas das Neves, Rui Rangel and Fatima Galante, and former Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira, will have two trials.
In accordance with the order which cm had access, the crimes of Vaz das Neves, former President of the Court of Appeal of Lisbon, Rui Rangel and José Veiga co-sponsored will be heard by the Supreme Court. The trial of Luis Filipe Vieira and the remaining perpetrators and defendants will take place at the Campos de Eustisa in Lisbon.
The investigation into Operation Lex by STJ Deputy Attorney General Maria José Morgado (then retired) focused on the activities of Rui Rangel, Fatima Galante and Luis Vasa das Neves, who, according to the prosecution, used their functions in Lisbon relations to obtain wrongful benefits for yourself or third parties.
The “Operação Lex” trial was known on January 30, 2018, when five people were arrested and more than 30 searches were carried out, and it arose on the basis of a certificate extracted from the Operation Rota do Atlântico case, in which football businessman José Veiga was involved, suspected of corruption in international trade, money laundering, tax fraud and influence peddling.
